Priesthood Responsibilities

Observing the tenets and ensuring that other members do the same.
Teaching the entrance process to other members.
Performing the Temple's initiation quest interview.
Preparing Initiates for the rank of Novice.
Providing support and information to all members.

Priests are expected to carry out these duties on an 'as arising' basis and are sanctioned to do so without any prior consultation with the Temple leaders.

To symbolise their association with the Priesthood, new Priests of Magic are awarded the Crystal Dragon.

Joining the Priesthood

Becoming a Priest is no small undertaking. In addition to being recognised and respected within the Temple, Priests are expected to give up much of their own personal time, time that would normally have been given over to socialising, hunting, and adventuring. Instead, a Priest is required to consider the best interests of the Temple and act accordingly. Priests often find themselves spending extended periods of time speaking with Temple members on a one to one basis. A Priest may also be called upon to discipline Temple members who are visibly straying from the tenets or charter. These acts are rarely set about by those whose dedication is found wanting.

In addition to this, there are a number of base requirements for a new Priesthood member, these are as follows:

A Priesthood candidate will have been a Magi for a reasonable length of time.
A Priesthood candidate will be of rank 'Scholar' in any Path.
A Priesthood candidate will be a proven interviewer, mentor, and sponsor.

A Priesthood candidate will have the confidence of the Temple's Ministers, Leaders, and Divinities.

Any Magi conforming to these requirements, who feels able to take on the burden of Priesthood membership, has the option to approach a member of the Temple's Council with a view to being interviewed and quested to become a Priest. Whilst entering the Priesthood can be a long and arduous process, and the resulting life a demanding one, being a Priest can be a most rewarding and fulfilling experience.
